Network Administrator - Posted January 2005

This position is an integral part of the Network Operations Center (NOC) for Warp Drive/US cable. Candidate will have significant interaction with growing customer base and other regional offices and departments addressing & supporting network needs and issues. The position also interacts with vendors and service providers in obtaining pricing information, technical implementation planning, and product evaluations. 

This candidate will work with other Network Administrators and report to the Senior Administrator implementing, maintaining and managing all network operations, troubleshooting network problems, planning and building networks from OSI layer 1 to Layer 3, managing TCP/IP internetworking connectivity to include addressing and sub-net masking, managing network hardware, managing aspects of network security (firewalls, IP blocking), configuring and managing VPN’s, and serving as a primary point of contact for customers and other remote network departments across the country. 

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of local area network (Mostly Linux environment), hardware and software components including web, mail, FTP servers and systems.
  • Configuration of Cisco routers, switches (layer 2&3), VPN, firewalls, and remote access devices.
  • Diagnosis and resolution of system (hardware and software) problems. 
  • Provide technical assistance to customers and remote offices.
  • Monitoring and analyzing network traffic and IP management and allocation. 
  • Evaluation of new network technologies. 

Mandatory Skills & Requirements include:

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience working in complex ISP / network / NOC environments. 
  • Very strong LINUX (RedHat) /UNIX OS knowledge 
  • Practical knowledge and experience with LAN topologies and technologies, switch/router configuration, network diagnostic tools, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, TCP/IP, IP address management, network documentation, familiarity with Windows NT/2000, and project planning experience. 
  • Intimately proficient in all aspect of Cisco routers and TCP/IP Routing issues
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong oral, written and interpersonal skills due to the heavy interaction with faculty, staff, and vendors. 
  • Must exhibit strong initiative and demonstrate the ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Scripting skills (perl, php) & BGP experience a plus!
  • Some Travel Required

Perl /  PHP Developer  - Posted February 2005

We are currently looking for an accomplished programmer / developer for the maintenance and expansion of an internal application.

Candidate MUST be an experienced application developer using Perl, PHP, and MySQL in the Linux environment. 

Mandatory Skills & Requirements include:

  • Strong Linux experience is a MUST! 
  • Understanding of routing/routing protocols, TCP/IP & LAN/WAN infrastructure
  •  Windows XP/2000, SMTP, FTP, HTTP, etc. 

In addition to application development, duties will also include include some Linux and Windows system administration.

  • Minimum 4 year sales experience working, preferably for an Internet technology company or ISP selling complex internet solutions and services to corporations.

  • Thorough understanding of the Internet and related technologies.

  • Motivated self-starter with strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Must be assertive, high energy, independent, results oriented and possess a strong sense of urgency. 

  • Proven ability in managing time is critical and strong phone skills are essential.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, work ethic and attitude.
